“Cancer Car”
I have been looking at used BMW 3 series cars to lease or buy one.
Funny how the mind works because there are moments when I become childish and think to myself that I “deserve” a new car because of all that I’ve had to endure.
But what does that really mean? How and why do I “deserve” anything? Who determined that? It’s not like I entered a contest and won the race therefore I should get a pre-agreed upon prize. This is life.
Don’t we all feel that way at times? Don’t we justify our sins and vices? Otherwise we would have to live with the dichotomy of behaving one way and thinking another. True grace unfolds when our thoughts and actions become one seamless movement.
I will say though, that I don’t feel that I have to even justify getting a convertible. I’ve wanted one for over 20 years and if I can afford one, then why not? There are moments in life when we should be able to do things just for the experience of it. Some might disagree and say that we have to rationalize every decision we make, but I disagree.
Isn’t life meant to be enjoyed? To be experienced, shared, LIVED? What better way to live than driving with the top down and soaking in all of life around you? (That is probably why I adored riding motorcycles for so many years going nice and slow; I appreciated the subltieis of life passing me by that in a car you miss out on. There are such nuances as cold patches of air, smells from a near-by farm or factory, sounds of animals and the like around you. Being on a motorcyle (or in this case in a car with the top down) you can experience SO much more of the living processes around you. That is why I want to get my butt in the seat of one and intend to do so before too long here.

We rented a Mustang convertible when we visited North Carolina. It was great if you were in the front seat, but riding in the back was like sitting in a wind tunnel. If you do get one, warn your back seat passengers that they can kiss their hairdo’s goodbye. It was fun though and you do feel excited riding in the open air.
If this is a dream of yours, why not go for it? You don’t have to “deserve” it. We all have our “areas” that we splurge on and pamper ourselves. For me. it’s photography. The equipment is expensive, but it’s where my passion lies. My cameras are used enough to make the cost worth it. And I doubt that you’d let a car like that sit around collecting dust! Hell no, you’d be out “flying it” and having fun!

That’s the support I need Mary, heck yes! I’ll be sure to tell my passengers to bring a hat!

Who am I kidding? This is probably still going to be a “pipe dream” for some time to come as looking into it further makes it seem unlikely right now. Hmmm… I guess the family has to come first . . . .
