Day +441

Hey y’all!

The first week went exceptionally well and I can’t thank everyone who believed in me enough.  It has been quite a long road back to employment, but I have arrived.

I got a second opinion today at a dermatologist and I want to state right now how
important it is to shake things up once in a while with a chronic, long-term disease.  You and your provider could easily become complacent over time, or as in my case, the provider can become too emotionally involved to properly diagnose, treat, and/or manage your care.

I blame no one, but the difference between my primary dermatologist/oncologist who initially diagnosed me and today’s experience was fundamentally opposite.  There is a thought that my primary derm may have felt she misdiagnosed me and much suffering and opportunity could have been avoided with a more accurate management of my disease.  (
But, let’s be real here; no one really knows what I have.  It’s the “Nick Graham” lymphoma and no one else can have it!! Stay away!  Mine, mine, mine! ;) JK, LOL).

So, today went very well and they took 4 shave biopsies of lesions on my lower legs that have not healed properly plus prescribe some more directed lotions to use on my cracked, peeling, paaaaiiinnnfullll skin.  (They were so energetic and helpful, staying positive and bright about treating my skin, vitiligo with laser treatments, etc . . .  Whereas my primary derm was almost in tears saying she could do ANYTHING?!?!? Again, get a second opinion at some point to make sure things are “on track”).

I have been working on a new website that will eventually replace this blog.  While I really have come to love this CaringBridge site and all that it has lived up to, I believe my efforts have outgrown the limits of this simple, free site.

Therefore, beginning in a month or so, I will stop writing here and transfer everything (current and archived, older posts as well) to my new website: www.nicholasjgraham.com.

You can visit it now for fun if you like, but bear in mind that it is the VERY early stages and still under construction.

Well, have a bright and cheery weekend.

Peace and ciao for now,

Nick
